This edible fruit is 2 to 4 cm in diameter and yellow berry. Its internal texture’s appearance is of a hollow fruit where a single seed resounds like a bell. Besides, it is like a crunchy apple and smells like a rose; hence, known by different names. It can be consumed either way, i.e., liqueur preps or raw. If we talk about its origin, it is basically from the countryside of La Réunion. Initially, it was used to decorate forests and parks.
aSome of these have dull yellow except the Malaysian ones; they are reddishly crowned by 4-lobed calyx, slightly pear-shaped, or globose to ovoid. The skin is smooth and thin that covers a crispy and juicy flesh with a sweet rose scent. Every fruit has a hollow center containing 1 to 4 brown medium-hard, rough-coated, 3/8 to 5/8 thick, more or less rounded seeds, which rattles when the fruit is shaken and loosens from the inside of the wall. The seeds are medium-hard, rough-coated, and reddish-brown and tend to be poisonous.
